UK Confirms Death of Soldier in Northern Iraq Training Accident

(MENAFN) A British Army service member has died following a training accident in northern Iraq on May 31, the UK Defence Ministry confirmed on Monday.

According to reports, the ministry stated that the incident occurred during a training exercise and resulted in the death of a British Army soldier.

“It is with deep regret that we can confirm that a training accident occurred in northern Iraq” on May 31, in which a service person from the British Army died, the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry added that the soldier’s next of kin have been informed of the death.

“Our thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends at this sad time,” the statement said.
