UK Inflation Holds Steady at Three Percent in February, Below Expectations

(MENAFN) The UK’s annual inflation rate remained unchanged at 3% in February, maintaining its lowest level in 10 months and coming in below market expectations of 3.5%, as stated by reports.

Figures indicate that the rate stayed steady compared to January, reflecting a period of relative stability in price growth.

Among the key contributors to inflation, education recorded the largest annual increase at 5.1%.

Housing and household services followed with a 4.6% rise, while communication costs climbed 4.3%. Prices for alcohol and tobacco also increased by 3.6%.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages saw a yearly rise of 3.3%, while health-related costs increased by 3.1%. Meanwhile, recreation and culture recorded a more moderate gain of 2.5%.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.4% in February, matching the rate seen in January.
